HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

  • Up to ten (10) $1,500 Honor Scholarships are awarded annually
  • Awarded to LBCC high achieving (3.5 or above grade point average) students in the LBCC Honors Program
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 12 units
  • Preference given to students who attended a Long Beach area high school
  • Application through LBCC Honors Program counselors followed by interview
  • Applications are available from August – September.

CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) SCHOLARSHIP

(formerly known as Vocational Scholarship)

  • Up to ten (10) annual $1,200 CTE (formerly known as vocational) scholarships are awarded annually
  • Open to students enrolled in certificate, trade and healthcare programs
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 12 units and maintain at least 2.0 GPA
  • Preference given to students who attended a Long Beach area high school
  • Application is through LBCC Scholarship Office, LAC, A-1040
  • Applications are available from August – September.

LBCC CENTENNIAL SCHOLARSHIP

(formerly known as Community College Scholarship)

  • Up to ten (10) annual $1,200 Centennial (formerly known as Community College) scholarships are awarded annually
  • Current LBCC students who attended a Long Beach area high school and are not currently receiving a Rotary Scholarshi
  • Current LBCC students who have returned to complete their education after a hiatus
  • Application is through LBCC Scholarship Office, LAC, A-1040

THERON H. SLAUGHTER, M.D. SCHOLARSHIP
LBCC NURSING PROGRAM

In 2010 a program was added for students in health related fields, preferably nursing, at both LBCC and CSULB funded by the estate of Bill Slaughter in memory of his father, Theron H. Slaughter, M.D., the former Chief of Staff at Long Beach Community Hospital.

  • Up to two (2) two-year, $2,500 per year scholarships
  • Awarded annually to current LBCC students in the ADN Nursing program
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 12 units and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Currently participating in clinical work at St. Mary’s Medical Center
  • Preference given to students who attended a Long Beach area high school
  • Application is through St. Mary Medical Center Nurse Scholar Program

MARK BIXBY LEADERSHIP AWARD

  • One time $5,000 award.
  • Awarded annually to a current Long Beach Rotary Scholarship Foundation recipient who has successfully completed two (2) semesters as a Rotary Scholar.
  • Applicant must be enrolled full-time.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA.
  • Application deadline is March 31st.
